DO YOU KNOW THAT THE MAXIMUM PENALTY FOR ILLEGAL DUMPING ON BUILDING SITES
OR IN A BUILDING SITE SKIP BIN IS
$1,000???

Illegal dumping on building sites costs the general public an average of $8,000,000 every year. This figure does not calculate the environmental and social costs illegal dumping creates.
Now you can do something about it...
Dob in a Dumper, and receive a reward of $250. Any information leading to an infringement issued to an individual caught illegally dumping on a building site will result in a reward of $250.
Rewards and follow up investigations will only occur on builder member sites, you can view I current list of campaign members by clicking, http://www.hianameandshame.com.au/about-members.aspx. If investigators receive information regarding non-member sites, the information will be passed on to relevant authority.
DOB IN A DUMPER
Through the building industry’s successful Name and Shame program, HIA has launched the Dob in a Dumper campaign, in a bid to reduce the amount of illegal dumping of rubbish on building sites or in building site skip bins.
The Dob in a Dumper campaign will identify and prosecute offenders caught illegally dumping and offer members of the public a reward of up to $250 for information leading to an infringement being issued to offenders. In addition, the campaign hopes to increase public awareness of the social and financial costs of illegal dumping and the penalties associated with it.
The campaign runs parallel to our Name and Shame program and involves security firm, Meridian Services who conduct follow up investigations and handle all public reports. Meridian Security work on behalf of the building industry to provide local councils with information and evidence of illegal dumping, resulting in infringements being issued more readily and ensuring that the majority of offenders are caught and fined.
The campaign has partnered with four local councils to undertake an initial six month trial period for Dob in a Dumper. Once the trial period has ended, it is anticipated that the campaign will be implemented across all Local Government’s within the Perth and Peel region.
The below Local Government authorities are currently participating in the Dob in a Dumper campaign;
• City of Mandurah
• City of Rockingham
• City of Swan
• City of Wanneroo
Illegal dumping on construction sites costs builders and homebuyers an estimated $600 per home built. It also affects the community through the littering of the environment.
A vital component of the program is involvement of the local community. We urge the general public to keep their eyes open and report all illegal dumping on building sites they witness. If an infringement is issued, members of the public are offered rewards of up to $250.
Members of the public can report illegal dumping on building sites by any of the below ways;
